The Tin Drum from Kneehigh
The Suitcase from Market Theatre Johannesburg

Sherlock’s search for the Baskerville hound heads to Liverpool Playhouse in December while the Everyman hosts Kneehigh’s world première of the Tin Drum.

Set in late-Victorian London, Holmes and Watson investigate the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville and a sighting of a “black beast” on the moors. It features a cast of just five actors playing more than 40 characters.

Market Theatre Johannesburg bring The Suitcase (October 4 to 7). Set to the music of legendary South African musician and composer Hugh Masekela, The Suitcase focuses on the journey of a young couple looking to change their fortunes.

Considered to be one of the plays of 2016, the visceral and funny People, Places and Things by Headlong (November 14 to 18) comes to the Playhouse one year after a sold-out run at the National Theatre and the West End. The story of Emma, an addict in denial and the challenge to face up to her problems, was nominated for the 2016 Olivier Award for Best New Play.

Rita, Sue and Bob Too (October 10 to 14) comes to the Playhouse with the story of two babysitters and their promiscuous employer Bob.

Northern Broadsides heads to the Playhouse with comedy romp For Love or Money (November 21 to 25), as a beautiful widow chooses between two suitors… and love or wealth.

And following the success of Dead Dog in a Suitcase (and other love songs) in 2014, Kneehigh return to the Everyman with a new production of The Tin Drum (September 28 to October 14).

It is a folk tale for troubled times.
