Work is underway for a project at The Customs House on South Tyneside.
This is Makina! is produced in partnership with Boundless Theatre and centres on the popular hyperlocal music genre.
In weekly sessions, participants make beats, craft lyrics and hone MC-ing skills, all whilst shaping the narrative of This is Makina!.
Makina has been popular for more than 30 years in and around the local area, taking its name from a genre barely known outside the region.
The show will be written by actor and director Christina Berriman Dawson, with DJ A.D.S.
