Manchester theatres' busy autumn season

What's on at the Palace and Opera House

The Palace Theatre and Opera House, Manchester has announced its new season of theatre productions with the publication of its new brochure.

Offering a diverse range of shows from new musicals through to ballet and thought-provoking drama, here are just some of the theatrical treats in store.

An Officer and a Gentleman arrives August 13 to 18 for one week only.

Over at the Palace Theatre, family audiences can enjoy holiday fun with Madagascar The Musical from August 14 to 18.

September sees the arrival of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Matilda The Musical at the Palace from September 18 to November 24. Based on the book by Roald Dahl and with original songs from Tim Minchin, this award-winning musical visits Manchester as part of its first tour.

Rocking its way into the Opera House from September 25 to 29, Rock of Ages is an LA love story lavished with 25 rock anthems.

October sees the arrival of English National Ballet’s Manon, Kenneth MacMillan’s masterpiece of love, luxury and passion, from October 17 to 20.

Let it Be brings the music of The Beatles back to the Opera House on October 22 to 27 and with it a new concert featuring 40 of The Beatles’ greatest hits.

Winner of every major Best Musical award including the Olivier for Best New Musical, Kinky Boots struts into the Opera House from November 12 to December 1.

Benidorm Live comes to Manchester in the stage debut production of ITV’s award-winning comedy from November 26 to December 1. Starring Jake Canuso (Mateo), Janine Duvitski (Jacqueline), Sherrie Hewson (Joyce temple Savage) and Tony Maudsley (Kenneth), Darren Litton has written an all-new set of Alicante escapades.

For the festive season, West End and Broadway musical phenomen Wicked flies back to Manchester to cast its spell at the Palace Theatre from December 4 to January 5. Over at the Opera House, Cinderella stars Corrie bad boys Connor McIntyre and Les Dennis swapping the cobbles for their clutch bags as the Ugly Sisters and Gareth Gates appearing as Prince Charming from December 8 to 30.
