Mamma Mia! at Birmingham Hippodrome

Prepare for “the fright of your life” as Talking Scarlet presents Nicholas Briggs’s adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Jekyll and Hyde at Buxton Opera House from Monday until Friday.

EastEnders’Jessie Wallace plays Mama Morton, John Partridge is Billy Flynn and Hayley Tamaddon plays Roxie Hart in Chicago at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham from Monday until Saturday.

Immersion Theatre’s new open-air adaptation of The Wizard of Oz follows the yellow brick road to Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, Stanwick Lakes, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire on Wednesday and Dearnford Lake, Whitchurch, Shropshire on Saturday.

The 2016 Classic Thriller Season at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal concludes with Mindgame by Anthony Horowitz from Tuesday until Saturday.

Nottingham Playhouse Youth Theatre stages Bugsy Malone with “great songs, amazing dances and the best ‘splurging’ ever” on Saturday.

At the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford, in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Gillian Bevan is the first woman to take on the role of British ruler Cymbeline which continues until Saturday 15 October; and in the RSC’s new studio theatre The Other Place Making Mischief, a “festival of bold and thought-provoking new plays”, features Always Orange by Fraser Grace and Fall of the Kingdom, Rise of the Foot Soldier by Somalia Seaton which continue until Saturday 27 August.

The Abba musical Mamma Mia! continues at Birmingham Hippodrome until Saturday 3 September.
