Excited: Andrew Miller

Andrew Miller is to join two Northamptonshire theatres on a 12-month training placement to help increase the diversity of senior leaders in the arts and cultural sector.

He will become executive associate at Northampton’s Royal and Derngate and The Core at Corby Cube. He is currently head of creative programming at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Arts Council England is giving the trust which runs the two Northamptonshire theatres more than £140,000 to support disabled and black minority ethnic leaders to gain experience, knowledge, skills and confidence to compete for senior leadership positions.

Andrew Miller said, “I applaud the Arts Council’s bold move in taking positive action through this innovative funding programme to address the paucity of BAME and disabled voices at the top end of our cultural infrastructure.

“I’m excited about working with the dynamic teams at Royal and Derngate and The Core at Corby Cube to benefit audiences in Northamptonshire.”

Peter Knott, area director for Arts Council England, said, “Andrew is a leading voice in the conversation about accessibility in the arts and we hope his placement in Northamptonshire will be a great opportunity for him to help shape the future of our sector as well as prepare him for the next step in his career.”
