Between September and December Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music hosts everything from classical music, big band and opera to conversations with Margaret Atwood and Vivienne Westwood as part of the Manchester Literature Festival (October 7 to 21).

Glitz and glamour make an appearance for an alternative Christmas outing when RNCM Opera presents Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne (December 7 to 17). It features talented students from the School of Vocal Studies and Opera.

Following a collaboration with RNCM vocal students in June, the RNCM Big Band joins forces with the RNCM Chamber Orchestra December 14 for the première of Tim Garland’s Luca’s Winter, described as a modern update of Peter and the Wolf and A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.
