Theatre by the Lake summer 2024 programme

Co-productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Northanger Abbey and Brassed Off will be at Theatre by the Lake in 2024, together with The Hound of the Baskervilles and The School for Scandal.

The season opens with Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's comedy horror musical Little Shop of Horrors in a co-production with Octagon Theatre Bolton, Hull Truck Theatre and New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich, directed by Octagon Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham. A new take on Jame Austen's coming-of-age story Northanger Abbey follows directed by Tessa Walker, again co-produced by the Octagon but this time with Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough and Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond.

Theatre by the Lake again teams up with the Octagon and Stephen Joseph for Brassed Off, based on the popular film, directed by TBTL Artistic Director Liz Stevenson and featuring local brass bands.

The season also features Peepolykus' adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes novel The Hound of the Baskervilles and Tilted Wig's production of Sheridan's 18th-century comedy The School for Scandal.

For Christmas, TBTL will present Jessica Swale's adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, directed by Kash Arshad.
