Roaring success: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

More than 62,000 people saw Birmingham REP’s Christmas 2015 production The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, making it the biggest-selling show in the theatre’s history.

The REP was 93% full for the adaptation of the C S Lewis children’s book. There were 82 performances and more than 200 schools took 27,928 young people to the theatre.

The REP’s executive director Stuart Rogers said, “it’s hugely pleasing that the show was a real hit with audiences. More than half the people booking tickets had never been to the REP before.

“It demonstrates that there’s a real desire from both schools and families in Birmingham for high-quality, home-produced theatre. The success of the show is due to the hard work and commitment of the cast, crew, musicians and the creative team plus all the staff at the REP who played a part in making the show a roaring success.”
