Premiere: the Nativity! stage show will open in Birmingham

The world première of Nativity! The Musical will open at Birmingham REP in October 2017 before a short UK tour.

The musical will be written and directed by Debbie Isitt, creator of the films franchise which comprises Nativity!, Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger and Nativity 3: Dude Where’s My Donkey?.

Isitt said, “I’ve always believed that Nativity! would make a fantastic stage musical. It’s so full of joy, the children are so sweet and funny and the songs so catchy that it lends itself to being the perfect Christmas musical.

“Now we’ve been able to assemble our theatrical dream team, I can’t wait to get started on creating an unforgettable stage show.”

With songs by Nicky Ager and Debbie Isitt, Nativity! The Musical will be choreographed by Andrew Wright and designed by David Woodhead. Lighting design is by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall and musical supervision and orchestrations by George Dyer.

Nativity! The Musical runs at Birmingham REP from Friday 20 October until Saturday 12 November 2017. It then tours to Southend Cliffs Pavilion, Sheffield Lyceum, Manchester Palace and Plymouth Theatre Royal. It will have a London season at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo and a Christmas season at Leeds Grand Theatre.
