Nottingham is to get its first fringe festival—an open-to-all, 12-day event—which will run across six city-centre venues.

The festival, according to the organisers, is “a chance not only to showcase the incredible talent found in Nottingham on a national stage but also to welcome some of the country’s most exciting performers”.

Festival director Thomas Moore said, “October 2015 is going to be a great time for Nottingham, with the city buzzing with thousands of students. The Fringe will give performers and promoters the opportunity to share their work with the city of Nottingham and the half-a-million tourists that will be enjoying the city.

“You really don’t know what you might see and where, in a cave to a teashop to a fully functioning theatre. With the majority of our venues offering their space on a box office split basis, we’re working really hard to make the festival accessible to as many people who want to present a show as possible.”

Venues taking part are Nottingham Arts Theatre, The Cave @ Malt Cross, Lee Rosy’s Tea, The Music Hall @ Malt Cross, Screen 22 and Nottingham Writers’ Studio.

The festival will run from 13 until 25 October. Further information, including registration for performers, is available from the Nottingham Fringe Festival web site.
