Nottingham Shakespeare Company is to stage a “riveting”, 90-minute production of Romeo and Juliet which will tour venues across Nottinghamshire in 2024.

Founding NSC member Cat Prescott, who makes her Shakespearean directorial debut and also plays Montague, said, “this is the play that made me first fall in love with Shakespeare; I hope our audiences feel that same passion and enthusiasm as we reach beyond the classic 'boy meets girl' narrative.”

The cast features singer-songwriter Emily Ashberry and Harriet Cadman as the eponymous couple. Ken Ogborn plays Tybalt and Laurence James-Davis is Mercutio. Michelle-Louise Wright takes the role of Capulet and Toni Tailor-Bird is Friar Laurence. Elliot Mattingley will play Benvolio and Alex Chalk the nurse. Stage combat lead Olivia Newton will play Lady Capulet.
