“Springboard for untapped talent”: Nonsuch Studios

A new 110-seater studio theatre—the only independent space of its kind in Nottingham—is to open in April 2019.

Nonsuch has been based on Clarendon Street in the city since 2015. Nonsuch Studios will be in a former signage distribution centre on Lower Parliament Street and will include office space and a café.

The company will use the space to attract “the best” theatre, performance and dance to Nottingham. The venue will also be a hub for festivals, conferences and events.

Nonsuch chief executive and artistic director Edward Boott said, “this is a big step up for theatre and performance in Nottingham and one we’re delighted to be taking ahead of our sixth birthday this year.

“Nonsuch Studios will allow us and the artists we work with to raise our cultural ambitions and, most importantly, get even more great art seen by Nottingham’s audiences.

“I’m keen that this new space serves as a springboard for untapped talent from across the country and also attracts high-calibre touring shows which may not have been able to visit Nottingham before.”
