Forced Entertainment is providing up of £10,000 and tailored mentoring over four years to Glasgow-based artist Nic Green, the winner of the inaugural Forced Entertainment Award in Memory of Huw Chadbourn.

Nic Green is an award winning performance maker. Her work includes A Herald Angel, winner Best Production at Dublin Fringe and the Adrian Howells Award for intimate performance, Cock and Bull, winner of Total Theatre award for Best physical / visual theatre, and TURN.

Green is artist in residence at National Theatre of Scotland and teaches directing at the University of Glasgow.

Forced Entertainment artistic director Tim Etchells said, “we are delighted that Nic has been selected as the first recipient of the award—we think her work is urgent, rigorous and has carved out a space all of its own. It will be a pleasure and privilege for Forced Entertainment to support Nic in the continuation of this, in this way.

"We have no doubt that the dialogue with Nic will also bring a lot to us as a company and we're excited to develop a relationship with her through this opportunity.”

The award, itself funded by the company having won the International Ibsen Award in 2016, is a vehicle through which the company can use their knowledge and experience to support other practitioners.

It specifically helps artists for whom structures of support, recognition or development are not currently available.

The award is named after Huw Chadbourn, one of the founder members of Forced Entertainment, who died in July 2017.

Nic Green was chosen as winner in a two-step selection process of nominations and panel assessment.
