Big plans: Jake Orr

Nottingham’s “only independent fringe theatre and creative venue” Nonsuch Studios has appointed Jake Orr as associate producer.

Orr is currently the creative producer with HOME Slough. He used to be a producer at Nottingham Playhouse and in London held a similar job at Theatre503.

At Nonsuch, which is based on Lower Parliament Street, his focus will be on expanding the company’s offering for audiences, communities and artists at the venue which opened in 2019. He will programme Nonsuch’s flexible 100-seat theatre space alongside artistic director and chief executive Edward Boott who founded the theatre company in 2013.

Orr said, “I’m delighted to be joining the Nonsuch Studios team. I’ve long admired the organisation’s commitment to Nottingham’s artists and communities.

“Nonsuch Studios has so much potential in offering an alternative cultural provision for the city and the artists who are being fostered here. We have big plans for developing Nonsuch Studio’s programming to bring the best artists working across the UK and further afield to the audiences of Nottingham and I can’t wait to present our revamped programme in the coming months.”

Boott added, “as a venue that opened just before COVID, throughout the majority of the past three years, our ability to programme work has been heavily restricted. With Jake at the heart of our programming team, we’re incredibly excited to begin to realise our ambitions of bringing the best fringe work, new writing and locally produced theatre and performance to the audiences of Nottingham.”
