A day of activities for the family is to be held at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s reopened studio theatre, The Other Place, in Stratford.

Theatregoers will have the chance to buy a limited number of tickets for the RSC’s Making Mischief festival of new plays for only 70p a ticket—the price when the original The Other Place opened in 1974.

The Other Place houses a new 200-seat theatre space, the RSC’s costume store, a new theatre tour called From Page to Stage and a café bar.

The Open House event, on Saturday 2 July, will include 20-minute theatre tours taking in the theatre, a rehearsal room and the costume store.

From 12 noon, former RSC head of wigs and make-up Brenda Leedham will lead a session called Blood, Guts and Gore which will show how the company creates fake scars and bruises.

The RSC suggests the Open House event can be combined with a performance at the RSC’s outdoor theatre, The Dell, located only a few yards away from The Other Place. On 2 July the Brit School will perform Titus Andronicus at 1PM and Much Ado About Nothing at 3PM. Entrance is free and no booking is required.
