Two Lancaster schools followed in the footsteps of The Dukes to perform their own promenade theatre shows in the city’s parks.

Bowerham School and Ryelands School were taking part in The Dukes Commitment to Schools programme which culminates with a performance each year.

Pupils from years 1 to 5 at Bowerham School chose the history and future of Lancaster as the theme of their performance which took place in Williamson Park where The Dukes are presenting their walkabout version of The Three Musketeers until August 18.

Bowerham School has its own special place in the city’s history as it was the first school in the district to be built by the education authority after the 1890 Education Act made education free for all children.

Year 2 pupils at Ryelands School focused their promenade performance in Ryelands Park on language, vocabulary and boosting confidence in public speaking.
