Northampton’s Royal stage will be transformed into Neverland at Christmas 2016 for the European première of Peter and the Starcatcher.

Winner of five Tony Awards during a run on Broadway and one of the most-produced plays in America in 2015, this “fascinating and funny prequel” to Peter Pan brings to life “one of classic literature's most beloved characters”.

Starcatcher apprentice Molly embarks on a daring mission to stop a precious cargo of stardust from falling into the wrong hands.

Twelve actors will play more than 100 characters in the production which will be directed by Luke Sheppard. He also directed Sue Townsend's The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4, The Musical at Curve, Leicester in 2015 and In The Heights, conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, at The Large, Southwark Playhouse in 2014.

Written by Rick Elice with music by Wayne Barker, Peter and the Starcatcher runs at Northampton’s Royal and Derngate from Tuesday 29 November until Saturday 31 December before going on a national tour.
