Toby Hulse’s new adaptation of Pinocchio will be the Christmas 2018 production at The Old Rep Theatre, Birmingham.

In the fourth Christmas production produced by Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA), Holly Sayer takes the title role and is joined by Ralph Birtwell as Geppetto.

David Alwyn will play Mangiafucco and Little Man alongside Martin Bassindale who takes the roles of Fox and Candlewick. Daisy Ann Fletcher completes the cast as the Blue Fairy. The professional cast will be joined by an ensemble cast of BOA students.

Alec Fellows-Bennett who played Ratty in the 2016 production of Wind in the Willows and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland in 2017 will direct.

He said, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my last two Christmas seasons at The Old Rep and it’s always fantastic to spend the festive new year in my home town. I can’t wait to direct this year’s production.”

Composer and musical director Steve Allan Jones, who has provided songs for The Old Rep’s Christmas productions over the past three years, returns. He will be joined by choreographer Steve Elias and set and costume designer Mila Sanders. Both worked on The Old Rep’s Christmas show in 2016. Will Monks completes the creative team as lighting designer.

Pinocchio runs at the Old Rep from Saturday 17 November until Sunday 30 December.
