Poppy, a three-year-old Shih Tzu-cross-Chihuahua-cross-Chinese-crested powerpuff has been chosen to star as Musetta's dog in Ellen Kent's production of La Boheme when it comes to Woking this February.

Poppy starred as one of two 'Toto's' in the Christmas pantomime Wizard of Oz when she was 10 months old. She was chosen by the producers for this part not only because of her look but also for her good and happy nature.

Poppy will be joined on stage by her owner's daughter, 14-year-old Chelsea Speyer, who loves the theatre and attends Epsom's Stagecoach where she has starred in many shows and performed in Dorking Hall's pantomimes.

Denise Speyer, Poppy's owner, said, "we are so happy and proud that Poppy has been chosen. She is an amazing, contented little dog who loves everyone and most people fall in love with her too."
