The Return of the Soldier

The Return of the Soldier has its regional première at Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, following its critically-acclaimed London run in 2014.

The show, the fourth in-house production at the award-winning Ancoats theatre, is a musical adaptation of Rebecca West’s novella written at the end of World War One.

A five-strong cast features Chris Jenkins as Christopher, Tessa Kadler as Kitty, Marc Pickering as William/ Dr Anderson, Esme Sears as Jenny and Naomi Slights as Margaret.

Set in Harrow during the summer of 1916, The Return of the Soldier is a bittersweet tale, dissecting the different love of three women for one man.

It runs from September 6 to 29 and is the fourth of five in-house musicals.
