Birmingham REP is to revive its 2014 production of John Steinbeck’s classic Of Mice And Men for a limited run before it goes on a UK tour.

The REP’s artistic director Roxana Silbert said, “eight decades after it was published, Of Mice and Men remains heartbreakingly resonant. On the news every night we see people risking their lives for a dream of a better life, experiencing the extremes of desperation and human kindness in their quest.

Of Mice and Men captures the epic story of the American dream in tandem with the beautiful story of an ordinary friendship which sits at the heart of the play.”

A new cast features Kristian Phillips as Lennie and William Rodell as George. They will be joined by Dave Fishley, Nicholas Goode, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Neil McKinven, Jonah Russell, Ben Stott and Dudley Sutton.

Design is by Liz Ascroft, lighting by Simon Bond and sound design and original composition by Nick Powell. Nicholas Pitt is associate director and Lucy Cullingford movement director.

Of Mice and Men runs at Birmingham REP from Thursday 4 until Saturday 13 February. It then tours to Cheltenham, Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Darlington, Blackpool, Cambridge, Brighton, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Oxford and Leicester.
