Ludlow company Here to There Productions is to take carnage to Shrewsbury with its production of Yasmina Reza’s comedy God of Carnage.

Christopher Hampton’s translation of this black comedy involves two couples meeting to discuss a scuffle between their sons. Although their intentions are for it to be a civilised, grown-up conversation, the combination of alcohol and the stress of their predicament brings out their less polite sides as well as revealing fissures in both marriages.

The cast comprises Ben Andrew (Michael), Laura Ashcroft (Annette), Sarah Gordon (Veronica) and Philip Jennings (Alan). Andrew Whittle produces and directs. Set design is by Sarah Mai, lighting and sound designs are by Carl Walker and Kaitlin Howard is fight director.

Here To There Productions is dedicated to bringing “challenging yet entertaining productions to rural theatres throughout the West Midlands”. The company has staged 35 productions in almost 10 years, performing in theatres, castles, stately homes and even a brewery.

God of Carnage can be seen in the Walker Studio at Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury from Wednesday 28 June until Saturday 1 July.
