The Rocky Horror Show

Richard O’Brien’s rock ‘n’ roll musical The Rocky Horror Show will entertain Wearside audiences again as new dates are announced for Sunderland Empire next January.

Since it first opened in London in June 1973 at the Royal Court, Rocky Horror is said to have become the longest continuous run of a contemporary musical anywhere in the world.

It’s the story of college kids Brad and his fiancée Janet. When their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion, they meet charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter.

The Rocky Horror Show combines science-fiction, horror, comedy and music while encouraging audience participation—dressed-up in the most outrageous fancy dress.

It runs from January 8–13.
