A stage adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s four-volume Neapolitan Novels is foremost amongst the three world premières coming up at Rose Theatre Kingston.

The four novels—My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay and The Story of the Lost Child—will be presented in two parts; the adaptation is written by April de Angelis and will be directed by Melly Still.

Audiences will be able to see both parts in one day, or on separate days.

The cast for My Brilliant Friend is led by Niamh Cusack and Catherine McCormack. Alongside them are Justin Avoth, Adam Burton, Martin Hyder, Victoria Moseley, Emily Mytton, Ira Mandela Siobhan, Jonah Russell, Badria Timimi, Toby Wharton and Emily Wachter.

Prior to that, the English Touring Theatre and Rose Theatre Kingston co-production Silver Lining written by Sandi Toksvig and directed by Rebecca Gatward has its world première and then tours.

New musical Junkyard is a Rose Theatre Kingston collaboration with Headlong, Bristol Old Vic and Theatr Clwyd. It has a book and lyrics by Jack Thorne and music by Stephen Warbeck; Jeremy Herrin directs.

Shows for younger audiences include We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, Room on the Broom and The Scarecrows’ Wedding. In partnership with Curve Leicester, there is a new production of David Wood’s adaptation of the Dahl classic The Twits.

The programme also includes dance, music and comedy events.
