More than £6,000 worth of tickets have already been sold for Derby’s 2015 panto Aladdin which will be held for the first time in the city’s new Derby Arena.
Councillor Alison Martin, the city council’s cabinet member for leisure and culture, said, “we’re really pleased that the pantomime is selling well this early on. It’s great to see that Derby audiences are as excited about the Arena as we are.”
There was no Derby panto in 2014 because of a fire which meant the Assembly Rooms could not be used. No alternative venue was available. Councillors have yet to make a decision about whether to refurbish or demolish the building.
Aladdin will be staged from Monday 7 December until Sunday 3 January 2016.
