Shobna Gulati and Joe McGann are to perform John Godber’s two-hander April in Paris at Derby Theatre.
Shobna Gulati played Anita in Victoria Wood’s TV series Dinnerladies and Sunita Alahan in Coronation Street. For the past year she has been a panellist on the ITV lunchtime programme Loose Women.
Joe McGann became a household name as Charlie Burrows, the “housekeeper” in the TV comedy series The Upper Hand. His major stage roles include Nathan Detroit in the UK tour of Guys and Dolls in 2006, Tevye in the 2008 UK tour of Fiddler on the Roof and Ray Say in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in 2012.
April in Paris features Al and Bet whose relationship is on the rocks. He has lost his job while she works in a shoe shop and dreams of a better life. But things might change when she wins a romantic night in Paris.
The comedy, which Godber also directs, runs at Derby Theatre from Friday (27 June) until Saturday 12 July before touring to Brighton, Woking, Aylesbury, Bromley, Glasgow, Manchester, Richmond and Coventry.
