Multi–space venue Shoreditch Town Hall has revealed a varied programme of events for its basement area, The Ditch.

Theatre performances include the London première of Volcano (previously seen at the Brighton Festival) and a number of works in progress plus Shoreditch Town Hall commission, Re-Enactments, an actorless, interactive audio production inspired by, amongst other things, the film Synecdoche, New York and Tom McCarthy’s novel, Remainder.

Free live jazz, swing, rockabilly and blues music, comedy and cabaret are also on the schedule.

Venue director Nick Giles said, “The Ditch is one of the most distinctive features at Shoreditch Town Hall, creating a unique, self-contained, multi-space studio venue and bar.

"This programme of work realises our ambitions to develop a studio programme in the spaces below the main hall, somewhere companies and artists can feel comfortable taking risk and experimenting.

“Alongside establishing an artistic programme and residencies at Shoreditch Town Hall over the past 18 months—supporting hundreds of artists and companies—we have also been completing half a million pounds worth of building improvements to allow us to present work more regularly.

"Now, for the first time in the building’s history, we are able to do just that, having recently gained a full entertainment licence.

"We’re very proud to present Analogue’s new piece Re-Enactments. The company have been developing the work here over the past few months, and we are looking forward to unveiling a new piece commissioned by the Town Hall—another first for us”.
