Back after 14 years: the Scottish play at Stafford Castle

Stafford Festival Shakespeare 2018 will be a “supernatural feast for the senses”, Macbeth, which will be staged in the open air at Stafford Castle.

Producer Derrick Gask said, “I’m incredibly excited about next year’s production. We last performed the play up at the Castle in 2003. After the feedback from audiences at The Tempest this summer about revisiting the tragic genre, the rest of the creative team and I felt Macbeth was the perfect choice for 2018. What a treat we have in store for our audiences next year!”

Director will be Clare Prenton and music director Craig Adams. Production designer will be Simon Kenny.

The 28th annual Stafford Shakespeare Festival will be a co-presentation between Stafford Gatehouse Theatre and Freedom Leisure which will take over Stafford borough council’s leisure and culture services.

Macbeth will run from Thursday 28 June until Saturday 14 July 2018.
