The Arena Young REP is to start in Wolverhampton

Birmingham REP is preparing to start a new youth theatre in Wolverhampton, the Arena Young REP.

The REP is offering a two-hour theatre performance taster workshop for 13- to 18-year-olds in Wolverhampton on Tuesday 28 May. Tickets cost £5.

This marks the start of a partnership between the REP and the Arena Theatre which will continue with a week-long summer school for young people from 29 July until 2 August.

The workshop will gauge interest in forming an Arena Young REP theatre group which will meet regularly at the Arena from September.

The Arena’s theatre development officer, Alison Vermee, said, “The launch of the Arena Young REP adds to the already outstanding youth theatre work taking place in the city, and cements the relationship between the Arena and the REP.

“This is a high-quality, great-value opportunity for young people to get into theatre and performance, with a chance to take part in a regional summer festival in Birmingham.”

Tickets can be bought online at www.arenatheatre.info, in person at the Arena Theatre box office on Wulfruna Street in Wolverhampton or by calling 01902 321321.
