Stephanie Beacham will star as HRH Princess Margaret in Richard Stirling's A Princess Undone, a new play inspired by actual events.
In Kensington Palace in 1993, while the Royal Family is at Balmoral, Princess Margaret removes several bags of correspondence from the Queen Mother’s home, including potentially sensational letters from Prince Charles and Diana. She means to burn them, but there are other papers, some of which relate to Margaret herself. When an ex-gangster arrives, she has the choice to make or break her family yet again.
Directed by Matthew Gould, the production will also feature Jason Merrells as ex-gangster John Bindon and will be designed by Norman Coates.
The play will première at Cambridge Arts Theatre in October at the start of a tour that will include Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne and Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford.
