Arts Council England

This month has seen £1.8 million of National Lottery money awarded to eight companies as part of Arts Council England's Strategic Touring Programme.

These include:

  • Creative Kernow Ltd for its Carn to Cove rural touring performing arts scheme which takes work to community spaces across Cornwall and the wider south west rural touring networks. This funding will also benefit the parts of Devon in need of further development of a sustainable rural touring programme.

  • National Rural Touring Forum will work with partners The Place, China Plate and Take Art on 26 dance schemes in the North, Midlands, South East, South West, Wales and Scotland and two national dance agencies.

  • Quarantine, based in Manchester, will work with seven partners from the North and South East of England plus one partner in Scotland and a specialist audience development worker to present dance-theatre in non-traditional venues to engage new audiences.

  • Dante or Die's tour of Take on Me also seeks to engage audiences new to the arts. Visiting six leisure centres across England, the company will hold a wide variety of events with local communities including training a co-ordinator for each performance to build skills for creating new projects.
