Color Purple to be staged as concert – young performers sought

The Color Purple - concert cast

The Color Purple is being presented in a charity gala concert for The British Theatre Academy on 21 May.

The British Theatre Academy is a performing arts programme and the concert will feature a chorus of over 40 programme participants.

The professional cast is made up Wendy Mae Brown, Cavin Cornwall, Tyrone Huntley, Rachel John, Hugh Maynard, Seyi Omooba and Marisha Wallace.

The musical director is James Taylor and the choreographer is Mykal Rand.

The Color Purple has a book by Marsha Norman with music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray. It is based on the novel by Alice Walker and the film of the same name.

Young people wishing to audition should register online.

The concert will take place at London’s Cadogan Hall on 21 May.
