Actor, writer and musician, Stella Grundy is taking her one-woman show The Rise and Fall of a Northern Star into a developed production, aided by newly appointed director Iain Bloomfield.

Born into the depressing landscape of 1980s Manchester, Tracy Star sought to escape the mediocrity of her life and make something of herself in the burgeoning music scene—with Bowie as her guiding light.

She formed the band Northern Star, who went onto release singles, "Now and Then" and "Heavyweight" before breaking free under industry pressure and recording as a solo artist known as simply Pop Star. She was the Manchester Madonna, before indulgence took its toll.

Grundy has taken The Rise and Fall of a Northern Star to many unusual locations across the country to sell-out crowds, including Manchester's Blueprint Studios, The Re:Play Festival, Chorlton Arts Festival and both The Birdcage and The Landor Theatre in London.

She has now taken the production into a new phase, developing it for larger theatres. This revised version of The Rise and Fall of a Northern Star will be showcased at a number of key theatres in October, and will pave the way for an extensive national tour in 2015.
