The Great Yorkshire Fringe 2016 from 15 July to 1 August

The Great Yorkshire Fringe is back and there is more of it.

Last year's inaugural Fringe saw over 120,000 people attend 63 events; this year that number has more than doubled and there are 150 shows to chose from.

Once again an array of entertainment, music, cabaret, magic and theatre events will be centred around York’s historic city centre alongside gourmet street-food, craft beer and wine bars.

Included in the theatre programme are Round The Horne: The 50th Anniversary Tour, Showstopper! The Improvised Musical and Sh*t-faced Shakespeare.

Stand-up comes from the likes of Paul Sinha, Henning Wehn, Richard Herring, Tony Law and Simon Munnery. In addition there is the Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year Competition featuring over 200 acts.

Family entertainment includes Tiddler & Other Terrific Tales and Morgan & West’s Utterly Spiffing Spectacular Magic Show For Kids.

Festival founder Martin Witts said, “The Great Yorkshire Fringe in 2016 is going to be an even bigger non-stop cavalcade of laughs. Comedy is going to take over the city centre and the sound of infectious laughter will be everywhere! We are also creating The Great Northern Comedy Trail, which will celebrate the lives and work of many of our greatest laughter heroes and venues.”

The full Great Yorkshire Fringe programme can be viewed online with tickets available from the web site and from 1 June from a new mobile box office, Bob The Box Office Bus. The Great Yorkshire Fringe 2016 runs from 15 July to 1 August.
