Although The Plymouth Athenaeum has held events for members since the venue closed in 2009, there have been no theatre productions on its stage; all that will change thanks to a new partnership with Barbican Theatre.

Easter will see the first live theatre performance on The Plymouth Athenaeum stage in eight years with a visit from Exeter based, touring physical comedy theatre company Le Navet Bete's Dracula: The Bloody Truth.

Barbican Theatre and Le Navet Bete have previously had six co-productions including the last three Christmas productions, The Wizard of Oz, Robin Hood and His Merry Men and this year's The Jungle Book, which opens on 13 December.

This first venture between Barbican Theatre and The Plymouth Athenaeum may lead to more performances being taken to the Athenaeum.

Dracula: The Bloody Truth is produced by Le Navet Bete in association with Exeter Northcott Theatre. It will play The Plymouth Athenaeum between 6 and 15 April. Tickets go on sale via Barbican Theatre on 14 December. (Note that tickets cannot be bought on The Plymouth Athenaeum web site or from its premises.)
