Around the World in Eighty Days

Around The World In Eighty Days—Jules Verne’s epic tale of Victorian eccentricity, romance and adventure—is on stage at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre from July 17 to August 16.

Adapted by Laura Eason from the original novel, a cast of eight play more than 100 characters in 33 rapid-fire scenes of physical theatre.

The story races its way across the globe, taking in continents, intrigue, love and even an elephant—all in the name of a bet. The eccentric Phileas Fogg wagers his life’s fortune that he can circumnavigate the globe in just 80 days with his valet Passepartout.

The show is the first collaboration between the Royal Exchange and the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle under Lyne, both theatres-in-the-round.

It was originally seen at the New Vic last year where it played to packed houses and critical acclaim. The same creative team is currently re-staging it again at the New Vic until July 5 before bringing it to the Exchange.
