The 2018 Theatres Trust Conference, themed Adapt & Thrive—new money and new models for theatre buildings, takes place in London in October.

The Theatres Trust is the national advisory public body for theatres that protects theatre buildings for future generations of theatregoers.

This year, the conference looks specifically at the impact of ten years of austerity and funding cuts and:

  • Where and how are theatres being built or renewed, and the factors supporting and limiting this renewal;
  • How we ensure that our theatres remain viable in challenging economic times;
  • What new business models are emerging and how these impact on theatre design.

Amongst those confirmed to speak in October are theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh, who owns eight historic theatres all of which have undergone refurbishment, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Arts, Heritage and Tourism, Michael Ellis MP.
