The future of training and education for theatre and dance will be discussed in a two-day symposium at Coventry University.

The aim of the event is to “provoke action, collaboration, connection and change” to respond to the challenges of the future.

Discussions will look at what skills performers need in the 21st century, whether different kinds of training are needed for different kinds of theatre and what the relationship should be between training and the performance industries.

Among the contributors will be Scott Graham, artistic director of Frantic Assembly, Josette Bushell-Mingo, artistic director of the Swedish National Touring Theatre, and Catherine Alexander from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

The Future of Performer Training in the 21st Century will be held at Coventry University’s Institute for Creative Enterprise on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 November. Places can be booked at the Eventsforce web site.
