Oldham Coliseum new season

Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s new autumn and winter 2014-15 season features a diverse range of comedy, music, horror and family entertainment, including two unique world premières.

Opening the season on September 5 will be the classic tale of an unruly school trip Our Day Out: The Musical. Written by Willy Russell (Educating Rita, Blood Brothers), this will be the Coliseum’s latest actor-musician ensemble and musical spectacular for which the theatre is renowned.

Comedy favourites Lip Service bring their new play A Picture Of Doreen Gray. There’s also a world première of Susan Hill’s The Mist in the Mirror from the author of worldwide hit The Woman in Black.

The theatre’s final homegrown production of the season is the annual pantomime: Aladdin from November 15 to January 10, with regular crowd favourites Fine Time Fontayne as the dame, Richard J Flatcher and Justine Bailey. Due to initial popularity, the Coliseum has extended the run and added an extra week of shows to allow for demand.

Elsewhere in the season, the theatre welcomes touring shows including Happy Birthday Sunita from Rifco Arts and Watford Palace Theatre and atmospheric thriller The Business of Murder from Middle Ground Theatre Company.

Plus the Coliseum has a variety of exclusive one-night events featuring the likes of Dave Spikey, The Black Dyke Band, Jaleo Flamenco and the multi-award-winning Stones in His Pockets.
