Nick Wallis, series consultant on the ITV drama Mr Bates vs the Post Office, is to chronicle the affair in a two-hour show which he is taking to Lichfield Garrick.

Post Office Scandal—the Inside Story “takes you on a highly emotional and thoroughly informing journey, unveiling even more shocking details and stories around this gripping, unbelievable and outrageous scandal”.

Journalist and broadcaster Wallis will take the audience through the “shambolic” commissioning of the Post Office Horizon IT system and examines the methods employed by the Post Office “to create the most widespread miscarriage of justice in UK legal history”.

He has drawn on 14 years of covering the story to write a book, The Great Post Office Scandal which forms the basis of the show.

A special guest at the Garrick will be Harjinder Butoy, a former postmaster who spent 18 months in gaol after being wrongly convicted of stealing £206,000 from the post office he ran in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. His conviction has since been overturned by the Court of Appeal.

Post Office Scandal—the Inside Story will be at Lichfield Garrick on Sunday 24 March.
