No longer Brassed Off: Wolverhampton Grand returns to producing

Wolverhampton Grand is to present Brassed Off—the first major show to be produced in-house for 40 years.

Brassed Off is written by Paul Allen and adapted from the screenplay by Mark Herman. Set in 1992, it features Grimley Colliery Band trying to qualify for the National Brass Band Competition at the Royal Albert Hall—but the town and the band are thrown into conflict as Grimley pit faces closure.

The play will feature a community cast in a variety of speaking and non-speaking roles alongside professional actors and a full brass band. Auditions will be announced shortly.

Former artistic director of Hull Truck Theatre Gareth Tudor Price will direct Brassed Off, a co-production with Talking Scarlet. It runs from Wednesday 23 August until Saturday 2 September.
