South East London's Jack Studio Theatre's new writing festival, Write Now, is now in its sixth year, aiming to find, develop and produce the most exciting, diverse and significant work from writers who have a connection to the south east of London.
Submissions are now open with the application form and brief available on the Write Now page of the venue's web site.
The festival will run for four weeks in May: one selected play will have a full production and two plays will be given a week’s workshop time and three staged readings.
The winning plays are chosen by a panel comprised of the Jack's artistic director, Kate Bannister, Lin Coghlan (whose credits include Eastenders) Franko Figueiredo of StoneCrabs Theatre, Simon James Collier of Okai Collier Company and previous Write Now winner Vinay Patel.
The deadline for applications is 30 January.
In the meantime, the venue is getting ready to open the London première of Loaded by David Bown presented by Alter Ego Theatre. The venue's Christmas show is Shipwrecked! An Entertainment - the Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as told by himself).
