The Lighthouse at the End of the World

The final part of the Jules Verne Extraordinary Voyages Trilogy is a ripping yarn about pirates causing mayhem on Staten Island.

A version using modern language races along as the lighthouse keepers are attacked by Spanish pirates led by Hannah Forsyth’s Kongre, a thoroughly nasty, if glamorous, piece of work.

Soon, the surviving lighthouse keeper, Alex McLintock as Vazquez teams up with a marooned seafarer. Jane Davies is portrayed by Kate Mason as flirtatious but brave.

Together the pair act like latter-day superheroes in their efforts to avoid disaster and save another ship from plunder.

This is all thrilling stuff, helped by a super soundscape and Kate Stephenson’s good directorial vision.
