Sadler’s Wells today announced its January to July spring and summer 2016 season, including a number of new commissions, world and UK premières: contemporary dance, ballet, circus, flamenco, tango, hip hop, family productions and even horses feature in the programme.

Highlights include Natalia Osipova in a specially commissioned programme also starring Sergei Polunin (June/July), Michael Hulls, Nitin Sawhney and Lucy Carter taking over the Sadler’s Wells building with an immersive, multi-sensory production No Body (June), dancers and horses on stage in a UK première of Golgota by French artist Bartabas (March), Associate Company English National Ballet celebrating the work of three female choreographers—Aszure Barton, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Yabin Wang—(April), UK première by Associate Artist Crystal Pite (May), UK première from contemporary circus company The 7 Fingers (April) and Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and Rosas become Sadler’s Wells International Associate Companies.

Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch will present the last work completed by Bausch before her death in 2009, ...como el musguito en la piedra, ay si, si, si... (11 to 14 February). Golden Hours (As You Like It), the latest creation from Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker (Rosas), comes to Sadler’s Wells (8 and 9 March). The work is loosely structured around Shakespeare’s As You Like It.

Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist Crystal Pite will present the UK première of Betroffenheit, created with Jonathon Young (31 May and 1 June). The work builds on Pite’s Olivier-Award-winning success with Polaris. In collaboration with Marie Chouinard, Victor Quijada and Marcos Morau, contemporary circus troupe The 7 Fingers (Les 7 doigts de la main) will present TRIPTYQUE, a triple bill of dance and circus (1 and 2 April).

BalletBoyz return with the world première of Life, featuring new commissions by Pontus Lidberg and Javier de Frutos (24 to 28 April). New Wave Associate Alexander Whitley and digital artist Memo Atken join forces to combine dance and motion-responsive technology in new work Pattern Recognition (7 and 8 April). The piece raises questions about learning and memory in relation to artificial intelligence.

Richard Alston Dance Company will première An Italian In Madrid as part of a quadruple bill (29 and 30 March). balletLORENT will present a mystical adaptation of Snow White, retold by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and directed and choreographed by Liv Lorent (25 to 26 March). The team behind Rapunzel creates a fantastical dance theatre production of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale for family audiences, as part of Sadler’s Wells annual Family Weekend.

Breakin’ Convention festival of hip hop dance theatre and culture returns for its 13th year (30 April and 1 May). Curated by Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist Jonzi D, the programme will include champion b-boy crew The Ruggeds (The Netherlands), experimental b-boy Iron Skulls (Spain) and leading street dancer Antoinette Gomis (France).

Ahead of that, the spring and summer 2016 season starts with London International Mime Festival (9 January to 6 February), which includes performances from Jakop Ahlbom Company and Family Floez, and flamenco takes over Sadler’s Wells in February with the Flamenco Festival London (16 to 28 February), including a new show by Sara Baras.

The spring and summer 2016 season is on sale from 10AM on Monday 9 November 2015 from the Sadler's Wells web site or on 0844 412 4300.
