Winsor replaces Welch in Nottingham’s Peter Pan

Denise Welch who was due to play Captain Hook in the Nottingham Theatre Royal panto Peter Pan has pulled out because of ill health.

She has been replaced by Richard Winsor who was born at Retford, Nottinghamshire. He is best known for playing Dr Cal Knight in BBC TV’s Casualty in more than 200 episodes.

He has danced with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures company in productions including The Car Man at the Royal Albert Hall in 2022, The Midnight Bell at Leicester’s Curve in 2021 and a touring production of Dorian Gray in 2009. His theatre credits include appearing as Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever at London’s Peacock Theatre in 2022.

Peter Pan, staged by Crossroads Pantomimes, will run at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham from Saturday 7 December until Sunday 12 January 2025.
