Car Boot Creatives – North East

As someone who is, as he says, “often frantically running round trying to source stuff for free or as cheaply as possible for productions”, North East playwright, actor and director Mike Yeaman has come up with what he hopes will be a solution which will help him and all other creatives, whether working in theatre or film.

Car Boot Creatives – North East is a Facebook group “where people could ask around for things they want to scrounge, borrow or hire - or just get tips and suggestions.”

Its “About” description says it is “a page for theatre/film and other creatives looking to source items and materials as cheaply as possible. Anything prop, costume, set, location or technical related—please feel free to post with requirements, questions or suggestions. Local businesses offering hires or specialist services may post but bear in mind the page is intended as a resource for creatives looking to source stuff for free or on loan.”

And Yeaman does point out that it is not intended as a page to promote projects or for casting purposes.

In just over an hour, more than 30 people visited and “liked” the page and its announcement was greeted with a lot of enthusiasm.

Update : The original page has now been converted to a Facebook public group and the link above has been amended to reflect this.
