North Tyneside’s Cloud Nine Theatre Company is to tour a collection of totally offbeat mime sketches.
In the show, entitled An Excess of Overcoats, we see a baby crying eternally, a burglar turning into a wardrobe, a poor wretch bungling every attempt at suicide and much more. The sketches are accompanied by a live musical score created and played by North Tyneside duo Bugman (Ryan Siddall and Simon Fitzpatrick) and, in keeping with the tradition established by most Cloud Nine shows in recent years, will be preceded by a musical set by different performers each night.
The show was originally commissioned for the Mouth of the Tyne Festival earlier this year and the sketches were created by the company with Cloud Nine’s artistic director, Peter Mortimer.
The performers for this revival are Zoe Hakin, Robbie Lee Hurst, Dylan Mortimer and Arabella Arnott.
The show tours to the Surf Café, Tynemouth, on 21 November, Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle, on 22, The Low Lights Tavern, North Shields, on 23 and 24 and the Yoga Station, Whitley Bay on 25.
