Ireshopeburn, a tiny village in Weardale with a population of 140, is one of just six venues to host a piece of Forum Theatre, A Life in the Week of Megan K., from Cambridge-based Menagerie Theatre, part of what the company calls The Great Austerity Debate, a year-long collaboration with Professor Mia Gray and Dr Susan Smith of Cambridge University’s Geography Department who are currently engaged in research around the uneven application and effects of austerity.
As in all forum theatre pieces, the audience is involved as “spect-actors” or creative participants, helping to solve problems to the play’s thorny questions. The project will be documented on film.
The Ireshopeburn performance will be in the village’s Literary Institute at 7PM on Tuesday 1 November.
