Full cast for Madness of George III in Nottingham

The full cast has been revealed for the Nottingham Playhouse production of Alan Bennett’s The Madness of George III.

As previously reported, Mark Gatiss will play King George III while Adrian Scarborough will take the role of Dr Willis.

Debra Gillett will play the Queen and Nicholas Bishop will be the Prime Minister. Wilf Scolding is the Prince of Wales, Harry Kershaw plays the Duke of York and Sara Powell becomes Lady Pembroke.

Nadia Albina takes the role of Captain Fitzroy while Jack Holden plays Captain Greville. Amanda Hadingue will be leader of the opposition Charles Fox alongside Stephanie Jacob as Sheridan. Louise Jameson will play Dr Warren.

East Midlands actor Andrew Joshi takes the role of Lord Dundas and Billy Postlethwaite is Braun. Papandiek will be played by Jessica Temple who attended Nottingham Playhouse’s general auditions earlier in the year. David Hounslow is Thurlow and Adam Karim plays Fortnum.

Director Adam Penford said, “I'm delighted with our talented and illustrious cast which combines actors who’ve worked at the Playhouse before with several new faces, including performers from the East Midlands.

“I'm also very proud that we’ve maintained our focus on diverse casting which reflects our audience. This includes our continued emphasis on gender-blind casting. The production has been more than a year in planning and I'm really looking forward to rehearsals beginning.”

The Madness of George III runs from Friday 2 November until Saturday 24 November and will be broadcast to cinemas across the globe on Tuesday 20 November as part of National Theatre Live.
