Leicester’s Curve theatre is to stage a co-production with West Yorkshire Playhouse of The Graduate—50 years after the release of the film.

As previously announced, Catherine McCormack plays Mrs Robinson and Jack Monaghan is Benjamin. Emma Curtis plays Elaine, Tom Hodgkins is Mr Braddock, Rebecca Charles is Mrs Braddock and Richard Clothier plays Mr Robinson. Daniel Crowder is the barman and desk clerk and Elsie Diamond plays a stripper and receptionist.

Director Lucy Bailey said, “The Graduate is a satire on the values and lifestyle of middle-class, suburban America. The world seen through Benjamin’s eyes is a heightened, surreal version of reality, at times grotesques and absurd. It’s a coming-of-age play—painfully funny and deeply human.”

Based on Charles Webb’s novel and adapted by Terry Johnson, The Graduate involves an educated young man being swept into an illicit encounter with an older married woman, setting them both on a thrillingly destructive course.

Design is by Mike Britton. Lighting designer is Chris Davey, sound designer is Mic Pool, Ian Galloway is video designer and assistant director is Natasha Hyman.

The Graduate runs at Curve from Tuesday 30 May until Saturday 10 June. Press night will be Wednesday 31 May.
